Loney Campaign Releases Donor List,
Calls on Other Candidates to Do the Same
Released October 2, 2022
As promised, the Shaun Loney campaign released its list of persons who have made donations of $250 or greater to his mayoral bid so far.
“We are required to make our contributors public in our post-election audit. However, we are releasing this information now as a measure of transparency prior to advance voting that begins tomorrow,” said Dawn Sands, Loney’s Campaign Co-Manager.
“We are calling on the other campaigns to release their donor list, their major campaign commitments and full costing of their commitments to give voters the information they need to decide who to vote for.”
Sands said Loney’s fully costed platform and tax commitments will be released later in the week.
“It’s important to Shaun and to our team that we do what we say, that we file our paperwork on time and that we are as transparent as possible,” said Sands.
The Loney campaign’s diverse range of donors includes business leaders Tina Jones, Charles Loewen and Wadood Ibrahim; former politicians such as Tim Sale (NDP Cabinet Minister) and David Newman (PC Cabinet Minister); former head of the Winnipeg Humane Society Vicki Burns; Indigenous book publisher and artist Patricia Nadeau Ningewance and anti-poverty activist Professor Jim Silver.
A total of 360 people have donated so far to the campaign, 174 of whom have contributed $250 or more.
Sands revealed that Loney’s campaign hit a record high last week for total campaign contributions, which reflects Loney’s steady rise in the polls. “We are feeling a groundswell,” said Sands who indicated their billboard campaign begins tomorrow.
